Empty Calendar Equals a Happy Me!

I am filled with joy. It is Monday, and I have just looked at my calendar. For today, Monday 13th December, there are no calendar entries.

It is the first day of summer holidays, so there is no school run. We're not doing kindy gym anymore and swimming is on a break until mid-January.

I started the day off with my usual walk around the neighbourhood, but that is the extent of my excursions for today.

The boys are in their pyjamas, and they asked if they could stay in them all day long, and I said, cheerily, "Yup!" I asked them what they wanted for breakfast, knowing that, even if they asked for pancakes, I had time to make them AND they had time to eat them without me standing over them trying to hurry them up. Lucky for me they only asked for cheese on toast with slices of tomato on the side--easy peasy!

I, of course, still have work to do, but Mondays are usually a slow day, so I can get away with just an hour or so.

I am taking a sabbatical from my university studies for one subject period, so no assignments or exams!

I don't know what we ever will we do with ourselves, but who cares?! My calendar is empty. The world can wait whilst we rest and recuperate from these busy (and sad) past few months.

If it is break time for you also, what do you plan to do? What is your favourite part of school holidays?

  1. I'm so sorry for your loss...your dad sounds like he was an amazing man and father. I can only imagine how difficult it must be for you.

Yes, definitely take time to just slow down and enjoy the time with your kiddos! You deserve it!

I keep forgetting it's summer where you are!!!!! Say hello to the sunshine for me, will ya??

  2. Thanks Helene for dropping by and for the kind words.

We chilled out today and it felt good. Life will busy up again tomorrow, because Christmas is not far away, but we had a much-needed break today. I don't even feel guilty for watching about 3 episodes of Gilmore Girls on DVD.

I think I need to make mental health pyjama days a routine thing for us--at least once in a while.
