Sunday Session: Finessing Our Dance Style with Marvin and Rihanna

On Sundays, I join Thea at Do I Really Wanna Blog? in popping some music on the blog. The rules are: there are no rules!
Old or new or in between. Related or not.
But always songs you love!
Here are my picks for this week.
You can play along by linking up with Thea.
Happy Sunday!

MisterEight doesn't enjoy dancing much. If there's a disco party, he'll bow out politely, even if all his friends will be there. I asked him why and he said it's because he doesn't know how to dance. Well of course he doesn't know how to dance, he's not had any practice yet. So, I've made up a CD of some favourite dance tunes so that we can dance around our living room without fear of someone laughing at our novice dance moves (I'm still trying to perfect my shuffle from LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem).

One of the songs that he asks to play over and over again is Marvin Priest's Own This Club, so his taste in music is spot on, he just needs to finesse his style. Today, I wanted to share with you a new song called Feel The Love. I think if Marvin was singing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, I'd still love it.

So in keeping with Thea's old theme of one old and one new, I want to share with you an older Rihanna song that I love, love, loved the minute I heard it. Nothing else she's done compares for me, because I think I really liked the drum beat and the Middle Eastern feel to this song.

That song still gets me moving, even after the millionth time hearing it.

What your dance around the living room song? Or is that just me?

  1. I know what you mean. Dancing around the living room is as good as it gets for me these days! I liked SOS too, but my husband grumbles everytime he hears it because he says it's a rip off from Soft Cell's Tainted Love.

  2. I wish i looked that glamourous coming straight out of the water.
Sadly I simply resemble a drowned rat lol

Both very dance worthy songs. I like Rihanna's older stuff too, SOS is one of my favourites and Pon De Replay does have that addictive middle eastern beat that you can't help dancing to. For me, I like dancing to R&B, not that I get that many opportunities to do so anymore!

  4. Me too. Sadly I never looked like that, even in my 20s.

  5. Both of those songs got me wanting to get up and dance. I love anything with a good dance beat...well, almost anything.
I don't blame your Mr8 for being nervous. I reckon I'd be pretty nervous having to dance in front of people now...so out of practice!! I used to dance all the time *sigh*

I appreciate your taking the time to comment!
